Attraction Information
Salisbury Cathedral has 750 years of history to discover, including Europe's oldest working clock, Britain's tallest spire and the world's best preserved Magna Carta in this amazing Gothic Cathedral.
You will have plenty to explore in the unique atmosphere of this ancient place of worship, with beautifully carved tombs and monuments and a famous organ. The mechanical clock is always on display, with more contemporary items such as a modern stained glass window and a lovely flowing ‘living font', created by a British water sculptor.
The spire is built 55m (180ft) above the tower and the height of the tower and spire combined is a whopping 142m (404ft)! If you want to find out more about the Cathedral, the Tower Tour is great as you will told all about it as you explore ancient roof spaces and climb 332 steps (in easy stages), up a narrow winding staircase to reach the foot of the spire.
You will be able to see inside the spire and even walk outside on the four balconies, which give an amazing view over the city that no one will forget experiencing! Each Tour is led by an experienced guide and lasts about 90 minutes but it seems longer, immersed in splendid views with interesting commentary about what you're seeing. Great!
