Plunge into action in jet skiing, kayaking, sail boats and SUP activities at the Water Park. Snap a selfie with loved-up swans or go rocket launching! The possibilities for an epic day out at Sale Water Park are endless...

If you are hoping to get outdoors more during the school holidays (or bank holidays), a trip to Sale Water Park is a fun and money-saving day out! Psst, Sale Water Park is just a 25-minute drive from Manchester city centre too!

Things to do
Sale Water Park, located to the south of the city, is an area of countryside and parkland containing a lake, woodland, meadows, and the River Mersey. It's a melting pot of fun and adventurous activities and amenities as you can also enjoy a relaxing sit down in the cafe and restaurant. But of course, the main attraction is the epic water sports centre!

Visiting in the summer? Sale Water Park, also known as Trafford Water Sports Centre, can get quite busy during the summer months and it's obvious why... With everything from sailboats to jet skis, kayaking canoeing, windsurfing, SUP and so much more, you can expect an action-packed day out with the kids.

The water sports centre also offers school group and corporate activities all year round and during School Holidays they run holiday clubs (advanced booking is required through the website).

So, if you’re into action and thrills, check out the Trafford Water Sports Centre. Fun isn't just restricted to the water though, with a wide range of fun on-land activities like Team Building, Orienteering, and Rocket Launching to enjoy, you'll never be short of things to do. The park is even prettier in the sun, so go and explore the grassy meadows, and River Mersey or follow pathways to Jackson’s Boat Bridge!

Walking is great and all but what if you could speed up your exploration...? Grab your favourite pair of wheels and cycle around the park! There are a collection of routes available. Don't have your own bike? No worries, just hire a bike from Velo Times and get to access miles of stunning traffic-free routes. You can explore Manchester’s industrial past along its canals, visit the deers on the grounds of Dunham Massey Park or be amazed by the wildlife at our local Sale and Chorlton water parks. Prices for adult bikes start at £10.

If you are interested in wildlife, Cormorants are a regular sight at Sale Water Park. There’s also a pair of mute swans who live on the lake. Their love story dates all the way back to 2002. Sounds romantic (and perfect for photos!), doesn’t it? Grab your binoculars and spot wild birds with your little ones or head to the edge of the lake and see if you can spot any fresh water fish!

So, if you're from Manchester and in need of a nearby city break that ticks all the boxes, Sale Water Park is the place for you! There's heaps of family fun to be had from jetskiing to rocket launching, wildlife spotting, fresh water swimming, cycling through exciting routes, and dining in the onsite restaurants.
