Attraction Information
At The Royal Botanical Gardens Edinburgh and the John Hope Gateway there are a whopping 70 acres of amazing gardens here to explore, including (but not limited to) the Scottish Heath Garden, the 5,000 strong Rock Garden, the Herbaceous Border with 100 year old beech hedge, and the Queen mother's Memorial Garden. Indoor elements include the Victorian Temperate Palm House and the Windows On The World glass house, plus the Hope centre itself.
A great place for a family ramble or picking up conkers by the bagful! Plus pick up a bag of sunflower seeds from the nearby John Hope Gateway entrance and you can usually entice some of the hundreds of gorgeous little squirrels to come and take it from you or at least from very nearby.
The John Hope Gateway is also where you can go to examine your findings under some public access microscopes! A really cool and fascinating addition to the park day.
There are several refreshment options: the Gateway Restaurant, East Gate Coffee Bar and Terrace Cafe are all on hand for refuelling the family, plus the Botanical Shop is there for all that pesky pocket money you're dragging around. Helpful!
