Attraction Information
RAF Scampton Heritage Centre can be found inside the extensively restored Annexe office of the former 617 Squadron (better known as the Dambusters), Hangar, an English Heritage Grade II listed building. This is a great place for kids (and adults), to discover interesting information about the exploits of the airmen who served here.
There is also the chance to see the office of Wing Commander Guy Gibson, who was awarded the Victoria Cross, as it would have looked during 1943.
This is a rare opportunity for kids to learn the history of RAF Scrampton, since it was established in the 1930s, through World War II and the Cold War. It currently serves as a base for the Royal Air force Aerobatic Team (RAFAT), also know as the Red Arrows, No 1 Air Control Centre, and the Mobile Meteorological Unit.
The Heritage Centre is open by appointment only as this is an operational station, so please contact the Secretary to arrange a vest.
