Venue type: Indoor, Outdoor

Once the hunting lodge of King Henry VIII, Prinknash Bird and Deer Park's Old Abbey is set in a charming wooded valley the other side of a monastic estate from the more impressive New Abbey.

The park has been landscaped with modern techniques to recreate an 18th century park including traditional style follies, which include a vintage gypsy caravan and a traditional Wendy House structure with wooden toys in.

You will also see over 50 types of creature wandering about including peacocks and waterfowl, golden pheasants, love birds, the fishpond, fallow deer, song birds, crown cranes, black swans and African Pygmy Goats! So, something to appeal to all interests and tastes (not that kind of taste: behave and think of tofu!). Several of the animal types are fed daily for guests to watch, including the reindeer, which occurs between 10:00 and 12:00 by timetable so check when you first arrive and plan ahead!

The Visitor Centre and some of the Park are serviced by wide pushchair accessible steps, but many places in the park itself cannot easily be accessed by wheel or push chair so be sure to check out the guide on site before you head off exploring. The Cotswold Valley begins nearby and you can also find the country's oldest post office a couple of miles away in Painswick.
