There is plenty of families things to see and do at Pooley Country Park with 62.5 hectares to explore, including a third of it designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest! This section contains several natural pools caused by mining subsidence, well populated woodland habitats and is situated right on the Coventry Canal.
There's a great new adventure playground with a cool collection of play equipment in a variety of sizes, ranging in suitability from 2 years old to 14 years old! Plus take a stroll along the footpath used by miners as far back as 1846 and you can listen to the Pooley Miners' audio trail by downloading the sound file guide for your mp3 player. Kids can also get a map for orienteering plus themed colouring and work sheets that you can pick up from the Visitor Centre.
This was the first mine to generate its own electricity from excess steam in the early 1920s, and also the first to have pit head baths, which were opened in 1928. Former local miners have donated memorabilia, which can also be viewed in the Visitor Centre while you're picking up all the paperwork!
