About Pollok Country Park
There are a pleasingly wide range of terrain and landscaping to explore at Pollok Country Park, from the yew hedges and herbaceous displays to the more tropical types in the glass houses.
There is a Woodland Garden and a Woodland Trail leading out from the Library Gardens, well worth exploring if you're got your wellies! Or you can take the Food Route and nose around the kitchen gardens and Demonstration Vegetable Garden, amongst other things. You can pick up details on all these little features at the Countryside Ranger Centre, where you'll also find the playground and the orienteering trail!
Events here include the annual Pollok Family Day, with loads of additional activities laid on for kids including Heavy Horse demonstrations with their resident goliath specimens: Baron, Duke and Spencer. You can also see the award-winning Pollok fold of Highland Cattle, though you won't be able to get too close, so binoculars can be handy.
If you fancy it you could also explore Pollok House: although this is managed separately and charges for entry, it contains the notorious Burrell Collection and offers a fascinating look into 1930s high end domesticity.
