Attraction Information
Pickford’s House is a window to the past for kids, full of historic objects and interactive activities, all in the heart of Derby.
As part of Derby Museums, this site is an authentic Georgian house originally owned by the Enlightenment era architect, John Pickford. It has been brought back to life with rooms designed as they would have looked in the Georgian era, fascinating, changing exhibitions and a stunning, hidden garden. The team really want to offer unique opportunities for children to learn and offer a number of schools sessions, fitting with the current curriculum.
While visitors can get a deep look into the cultural history of the area, kids will love dressing up in costumes from the era and then running wild in the Georgian Garden. Perhaps most exciting though is the chance for kids to play and perform in the free-standing puppet theatre: a rare gem.
