The Palace of Holyroodhouse, the official residence in Scotland of Her Majesty The Queen, stands against the spectacular backdrop of Arthur's Seat.
This fine baroque Palace is closely associated with Scotland's rich history especially the reign of Mary Queen of Scots. Explore the ill-fated queen’s chambers, where she lived during her short but turbulent reign, including her bedchamber and the Outer Chamber, a prayer niche she would have used for her personal devotion.
Take the complimentary family audio tour of the Palace which is accompanied by a programme of family activities during school holidays and at weekends.
The Queen's Gallery at the Palace hosts a programme of changing exhibitions from The Royal Collection, you’ll also find portraits of legendary Scottish monarchs lining the walls. Adjacent to the Palace you’ll find Holyrood Abbey. During summer months you can learn all about the buildings extraordinary history with a guided tour where you’ll be escorted by Warden’s dresses in their ancient hunting Stewart tartan.

Standard Opening Times and Pricing
April - October: Monday to Sunday 09:30 – 18:00 (last admission 16:30)
November to March: Monday to Sunday 09:30 – 16:30 (last admission 15:15)
The Palace is closed on 14th April, 25th & 26th December and during Royal visits. Closures are subject to change, so please ensure that you double check the Palace is open.

The Cafe at the Palace provides a wide and varied contemporary menu, serving hot and cold drinks, light snacks and main meals. Prepared freshly by the in-house chefs, the menu changes daily. The cafe has ample indoor and outdoor seating, and groups are welcome to reserve a seating area. Alternatively, if time is limited, arrangements can be made for take-away food to be delivered to your coach.
