Attraction Information
Norwich Castle, one of the city's most famous landmarks, was built by the Normans as a Royal Palace 900 years ago. Now a popular family friendly museum and art gallery, it is home to some of the most outstanding collections of fine art, archaeology and natural history as well as the Royal Norfolk Regimental Museum collections.
Norwich Castle is packed with treasures to inspire and intrigue visitors of all ages, and it has plenty of history, during its time as a palace, and later a prison! In the magnificent Norman keep, models, computers, sound and video bring history vividly to life.
Find out about East Anglia's very own Queen Boudica, admire breathtaking displays of Iceni gold, and ride on a recreation of an Iceni warrior's chariot. You will find a wealth of collections that illustrate all aspects of Norfolk life, heritage, and environment here.
Immerse yourself in the decorative arts in two brand new galleries. Trace 600 years of style and design in the ‘Arts of Living' Gallery, then view objects brought back from countries such as Africa and India in ‘Treasure, Trade and the Exotic'.
Numerous kid friendly features including trail guides aimed at specific age groups, dungeon tours, explorers' equipment in the main lobby, bridge building, dress up and more.
Plus you're in The Fine City, so there's plenty more locally to visit including the new play features in Chapelfield Gardens and the terrific facilities for kids in the Children's section of the Millennium Library. Loads to do!
