Attraction Information
The Northampton and Lamport Railway is a steam and heritage diesel operated tourist railway located at Pitsford and Brampton Station, roughly 5 miles from Northampton, and easy to reach.
British Rail closed the line in 1981, but it was up and running again as a heritage railway in 1984, and carrying fare paying passengers from 1995. The passenger train currently operates on a section of line about 1.5 miles (2.4km) in length, which departs from and arrives at Pitsford and Brampton Station, and runs alongside the Brampton Valley Way, which is a 14 mile linear park from Northampton to Market Harborough.
Day Rover tickets are available if you would like to ride all the trains all day, but you can also stop for a cup of tea at the Platform 3 buffet and watch the world go by, or visit the Gift Shop or second hand bookshop, The Emporium. All the staff are dedicated, and friendly volunteers, who work hard to bring history back to life.
A number of special events take place during the year, including the popular Santa Specials in December, so worth checking the timetables all year round to see what's on. Their link can help you out with that!
