Attraction Information
Nene Valley Railway offers more than just a train ride at this fantastic heritage railway that has something for the whole family.
Throughout the summer weekends you will find a vintage bus (or two) working from Wansford station, or the Travelling Post Office carriage set demonstrating how mail used to be moved and sorted at night. At other times you will see both steam and diesel traction working alongside each other. Because they're an international railway you'll also see locomotives and coaching stock from across Europe, a unique offering from NVR!
Nene Valley Railway's is also home to a little blue engine, Thomas that is considered the 'official' Thomas the Tank Engine, because it was named by the fictional character's creator the Rev. W. Awdry in 1971. Thomas has been delighting visitors of all ages since 1973, and you can become a ‘Friend of Thomas' for a one off fee.
The railway has a number of special events throughout the year including a couple of Thomas events, Gala weekends and Santa Specials!
