Attraction Information
National War Museum offers a chance for curious minds of all ages to investigate the story of Scotland at War, within the grand and historic setting of Edinburgh Castle! Discover details of dramatic battles lost and won through their collections of military artefacts and the personal items of Scotland's infantry soldiers and support network.
Families and children are welcome at the museum and there is so much for you to see and learn about! Uncover fascinating documents like personal diaries and official memos, plus a range of photographs from official regimental pictures to telling private snaps. And don't forget to say hello to Bob the Dog!
Learn about leadership and morale, victory and defeat, and what is was like to face the enemy (and even death!) in the museum's extensive collection. There is of course potential for those giving the message of war serious consideration to find it a bit upsetting, but the museum is sensitive to young visitors, though you may well find the topic lingers after leaving.
Entry to the museum is included in the admission price for the castle. Also included is access to the special exhibits, which vary as the season rolls around.
