- Museums and Art Galleries
Suitable for all ages
Venue type: Indoor
While obviously National Museum of Scotland is a great place to learn new things, it's just as easily appreciated for the fun of its stunning collections and new contemporary galleries, also boasting exhibits and activities especially for children. The Adventure Planet gallery features interactive learning fun and role play opportunities, like costumed deep sea diving, archaeology dig and crawling through the roots of an oak tree!
Plus, the Animal World Gallery is a guaranteed hit, opening with the giant Tyrannosaurus Rex and covering animals from around the world in fascinating and bold displays that will entrance kids of all ages.
Baby changing facilities are provided on site and lifts or ramps connect every floor so it's exceedingly pushchair friendly, plus families are welcome to eat a packed lunch in the Group Room if you're not using the cafe, provided of course it's not full of groups!
There are free guided tours available including a rolling theme type where there is a different subject every day, with the focus ranging from musical instruments to Vikings! You can check out their program in advance online.
