The sound of a power loom weaving at full pelt is impressive and unforgettable, truly atmospheric! They are lucky to have not 1 but 2 working looms at the Museum of Carpet - a Wilton and an Axminster! As well as exploring the loom rooms there are informative displays and exhibits to tickle your interest too!
The galleries are temporary and change regularly so we can't tell you precisely what's on, but whatever exhibition they are showing at the time of your visit you can be sure that it's going to be high quality with hands on elements, for example for a recent exhibition on the Stretton Doctors they featured an interactive operating theatre!
There will be themed activities to go along with whatever they're showing, so you're generally on for a safe bet, but if you need to check exactly what's there, check out the Museum of Carpet's website and see out what's coming up!
They also lay on loads of extra fun during the school holidays!

Lovely afternoon out

This is a small place but packs a punch and is really kid friendly. I went with my 2 and 6 year old. There is dressing up, a lovely little reading area and the staff are available (and very lovely) to do crafts with the kids. And there is the actual exhibits themselves, the kids get to make carpet designs and do a bit of weaving. This place is small but adorable and an easy way to spend a few hours. Also, it's next door to Morrison's so you don't have to travel far for a cafe!
