For the kids, the highlight will probably be the4 adventure playgrounds! The Forest Castle is nestled in the trees, The Steeplechase is a natural course set among the trees and beck to race round. Squirrel Island is for under 11s with a play house and tyre and toddler swings and The Forest Hazard Course gives 12 to 16 year olds more of a challenge!
You can also explore the Heather path maze in the Bee Garden or complete the Poetry Walk, passing through a rhododendron tunnel or the Family Nature trail which is free with admission. The house is worth a peek, particularly if the rain sets in in your day out.
The Family Nature trail is free with admission . This trail is a walk of about half a mile and goes through the woods and gardens at Mirehouse helping children to keep a look out for red squirrels, rabbits and a variety of trees and plants.

Standard Opening Times and Pricing
: 1st April to 31st October 2016. Mirehouse is open on Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday afternoons (also Fridays in August) from 1.30pm to 4.30pm (last entries 4pm) The gardens, playgrounds, lakeside walk and tearoom open daily from 10am to 5pm.
