Mid Hants Railway Watercress Line offers the perfect way to unwind and enjoy a slower pace of life, as you experience the nostalgic sights and smells of travel from a bygone age.
Take a nostalgic and educational trip on a heritage steam railway through 4 period stations, Alresford, Ropley, Medstead and Alton, each offering something different for you and the kids to experience.
Alresford has a charming Georgian town centre with lots of great independent shops, a picturesque river walk to enjoy, plus National Trust property Hinton Ampner is nearby. Ropley station allows you to walk in Harry Potter's footsteps over the iron footbridge where he received his ticket for the Hogwarts Express, which takes you into the Loco Yard where you look behind the scenes in the impressive engineering workshops, and get up close to the locomotives!
Medstead and Four Marks is a peaceful country station where you can watch the world go by, plus it's the highest station in Southern England! While Alton is a bustling market town with a lovely mix of modern shops and historic buildings, plus the Curtis Museum and Allen Gallery to visit.
The Watercress Line has special events for families throughout the year, including Day Out With Thomas at Easter, and again in August, meet Peppa Pig and Postman Pat, War on the Line, Wallace and Gromit, Wizard Weekend and Santa Specials!

LOVED Day Out With Thomas
Written by Anonymous . 21.04.16
What a fun day we had with our two little ones (age 2 and 4). There were tea-cup rides, rides on Thomas, bouncy slide, Thomas train sets to play with... all included in the price. The events the Watercress Line put on are fab for the family - kids will love it! They do two Thomas events in the year (Summer and Easter) and a Wizard Weekend too (October). Totally recommend it! :)
