Venue type: Indoor

Championing local creativity through family focused events, the Mercury Theatre is a real gem tucked away in the heart of Colchester.

Do you love a pantomime? They have one on every year, as well as summer family shows and plenty of children’s theatre throughout the seasons. Performances have included the likes of Spamalot, Lord of the Flies and educational classics like The Crucible. Kids who have their hearts set on the stage can take part in interactive workshops and youth theatre, or even pull back the proverbial curtain with backstage tours.

The theatre touches a wide community of over 130,000 people in the surrounding area with their broad and vibrant programme, plus it’s the most active producing theatre in East Anglia. This inspires new talent and audiences to make their way to Colchester and supports thriving community education partnerships. All in all it would be a great way to get your aspiring actors treading the boards and excited about life away from their screens!
