Attraction Information
Mendips Raceway has been open since 1969 and is home to some of the most exciting banger, stock car, and caravan racing in the UK! The oval racing circuit is situated above Cheddar on the Mendip Hills, with tremendous viewing thanks to the high spectator banking, that means that all parts of the track are visible at all times.
The Raceway mainly promotes stock car and banger racing, with a number of domestic and guest formulae making up each exciting programme! The tarmac track, with its unique up and down hill section, makes for some fast (and thrilling!) racing, and the pits can cater for up to 100 cars per meeting!
There is a great programme of fixtures to enjoy with the kids throughout the year, from Micro Massacre to the English Championship Reliant Robins Crazy Day! The whole family can enjoy these events, and you can even bring your own picnic, or sample the wares of the various catering outlets.
If you really like the racing, you can also try it out for yourself. Youngsters from the age of 11 can experience the thrill of racing as they drive a MiniRod car at the Raceway. A great way for young people to enter Oval racing. You can even help prepare (and repair!) the cars, which may also make them think twice before going for a gap that isn't really there!
The cars are 1000cc Mini saloons, that have been stripped out but are mechanically standard, with a roll cage fitted, plus a good, safe racing seat and a full safety harness to ensure your little speed demon doesn't come to any harm.
If you are new to Stock Car Racing, you may want to check out their Formulas listing webpage, which contain short videos of each type of car that races at Mendips, plus a brief description.
