Marston Vale Forest Centre is set in the stunning and award winning Millennium Country Park and is perfect for a family day out. From the 8km of trails around the park to the hidden wonder of the willow huts and with birds and creatures to be spotted on your wanderings, there's plenty to do! The Lakeside Cafe serves a range of cakes, snacks and kids meals with a large outdoor picnic area, suitable for dog owners, and an adventure play area for kids (with a sandpit!). The bike hire is open all year round, giving your family a chance to explore the 8km of surfaced, level paths without trekking all their bikes from home in the car. The centre is located about a 15 minute walk, through the park, from both Millbrook and Stewartby railway stations, if you don't fancy driving and would prefer the scenic route. Stewartby Lake offers beautiful views as do the many bird hides in the Wetlands Nature Reserve; including the recently built Tower Hide and Treetop walkway, where you can ascend through the trees, brush past the rustling leaves and see panoramic views of the Vale. There is a small charge to enter the Wetlands, and as it is a carefully managed nature reserve, please be aware that no dogs or bikes are allowed on the trail. The gift shop sells a selection of gifts and toys, and we host regular events for the family throughout the year, from Festivals to craft activities to concerts. Most importantly, all money spent at the Forest Centre, whether it's a cup of tea or a party booking, goes directly into the creation of new woodlands across the Forest of Marston Vale; creating a vision for the future of Bedfordshire, that will benefit our kids long after we are gone.
