Bring your outdoorsy munchkins to Lydford Gorge to witness the deepest natural gorge in the South West, boasting a spectacular 30m waterfall. You can also enjoy the kids' playground and search for the woodland sculptures hidden in the undergrowth…
It's also a terrific place for nature spotting, what with dippers and wagtails swooping low over the river most of the year round, alongside hoards of other natural wildlife and seasonal floral displays. Throughout the spring and summer, a wealth of wildflowers add to the colour chart. The trees naturally put on a show throughout the year too, from the glorious summer greenery through to the rich reds and yellows of autumn.
There are also seasonal activities laid on like den building workshops! So from pooh sticks at the Waterfall Bridge to bird watching at the gorge, from den building in the orchard to peering into the Devil's Cauldron, you won't run shy of things for outdoorsy kids to do here!
And if the lovely surrounds inspire the hikers amongst you then you can choose from the 2-hour epic Gorge Walk or one of the shorter offerings, perhaps better for little legs: the Whitelady Waterfall walk and the Devil's Cauldron Walk.
