Attraction Information
London Bus Museum not only covers the history of public transport over 100 years but also has a great collection of old buses, which still work! So polish up your Blakey impression and come and on down!
The displays are arranged in a timeline, with buses ranging from the horse drawn bus from 1870 to those made in the 1970s. Each exhibit is placed in a contemporary London street scene, giving a better idea of the time in which they were used. There are also displays of information for the kids to check out plus small items associated with each time period so if they want to make an educational thing of it there's plenty of data. Most small kids will be just as happy looking at it all to be fair, though!
There is also a working fleet of buses which can ‘come out to play' for special events and running days, plus you can see buses that are undergoing restoration which itself is very interesting.
Overall the museum is level and so provides easy access for pushchairs and wheelchairs so it's a terrific place to take both kids and grandparents!
There is usually at least one bus open to climb on to and take a closer look at, which will fascinate some kids who may never have been on a bus and bring back memories for some of the adults who have, back when all this was fields.
