Lancaster City Museum is a great place to start if you are visiting the city and want to know more about it or even if you have lived there all your life.
You can tell that a lot of effort has gone into giving people an interesting trip through the ages with some great relics and artefacts and some brilliantly informative and clear explanations about what is on display.
This small museum concentrates mainly on military history as the building used to be the recruiting office for those wishing to sign up. You will find it really interesting (and maybe a bit sad) to read about member of the Regiments and see the letters that they sent home to their families.
The attendants are friendly and helpful so do feel free to ask them any questions about something you see in a display. Find out about Victorian street life, old treasures that have been uncovered, Roman artefacts and medieval stone crosses. Amazing and free to visit!
