Do you ever stare up at the stars at night and wish you knew more about the depths of space. Go investigate at the Kielder Observatory gives anyone the chance to discover the splendour of cosmos, with a number of instrumentation and telescopes to help you explore!
Expert tutors will take you on a tour of the universe as you sit next to the crackling log fire. The site was chosen because it is the third largest protected Dark Sky reserve in the world, so has the least amount of intrusive light pollution giving you the clearest possible view into the secrets of the sky.
There's two Family Astronomy event held every week, where you will be taken through the universe at breakneck speed, with amazing visuals and interesting information from the experts. You will also get a tour of the observatory and shown how to properly use the powerful telescopes. The instructors take into account the smaller visitors so that anyone can become an Astronomer, whatever their age or experience. You can all look into space and discover galaxies, star clusters and nebulae together!

Public access is to events only, these happen very frequently and there are special family events held most Saturdays from 5.00pm too!
