Attraction Information
Ipswich Transport Museum will show kids how people used to travel with an amazing selection of different modes of transport.
You can see a fire engine and a police car, plus buses, bicycles and prams. There are lorries, lawnmowers and even a hearse! The museum has about 90 different vehicles, plus lots of transport related memorabilia.
The museum allows you to go inside some of the vehicles so kids can see how they differ from modern transport. ‘Dennis the Bus' is always popular with the kids, as is the fire engine, where they can ring the bell. There is also the opportunity to see restoration in progress as wrecks are returned to their original glory.
There are also themed displays about rail, air and water transport in the exhibition rooms. You can also see the Ipswich Engineering collection.
The museum is all on one level, making it pushchair and wheelchair friendly. It is run entirely by volunteers, who are always on hand to answer any questions or tell you fascinating facts.
