Attraction Information
The National Sports Centre's excellent leisure swimming facilities include 2 breathtaking flume rides, the Serpent and the Reef, plus a flow pool with fan sprays, geysers and whirlpools! This takes a family swim above and beyond the normal fun: we're talking major treat territory! Be sure to go early and quiet sessions are best if you can find one, but the atmosphere is tropically warm so you needn't worry about freezing queuing on the slide steps.
For the toddler, there is a separate shallow pool with a children's' zero depth beach area, bubble jets, mushroom spray and a little slide just for them! There is also an invigorating spa pool (like a jacuzzi) for both parents and children to enjoy. You're not meant to take tots in there though as it's a trifle too warm for them. You've also got the competition short course swimming pool for exercise swimming and skill development.
Elsewhere on site there's also a full size sports hall and a 4 court secondary sports hall, a 5 rink indoor bowling facility, a 6 court squash facility, an athletics track and field facility and an all weather synthetic pitch! So with a bit of pre planning and maybe bringing some friends along there's almost no end to the things you can do here! A great alternative for those who don't like to swim, or a great warm up exercise before spending the rest of the afternoon fluming!
