Attraction Information
Regularly voted a Top Scottish Visitor Attraction, Inveraray Jail makes prison more fun than it should be!
The Jail is a living museum where real people (and the odd mannequin) portray life in a 19th century prison, a terrific aid to the learning processes and something really different from a historical day trip!
Interact with costumed characters and talk to the prisoners who will apparently describe their prison ordeals and daily routines in graphic detail! Meet the Warder, go to jail and witness cell life, sample the punishments if you've got the bottle, then make good the family escape!
While all of it is legitimately educational some of the exhibits and experiences may be worrying or upsetting to small or sensitive sorts, so do plan ahead if you intend to miss bits, or need to contact them for guidance.
Plus browse the exhibition of prison artefacts, watch courtroom trials, and explore the grounds.
Bigger and braver types can join the UK's top ghost hunters in ghost hunting nights and paranormal investigations, held here regularly for those who like such things.
