Loch Morar<\/h3> \n \n

\n Ever heard of Loch<\/span> Morar<\/span><\/a>? Famously known as the <\/span>deepest freshwater lake in the British Isles<\/b>, the loch is located in the<\/span> Highlands<\/span><\/a>. It reaches depths of more than <\/span>300 metres (1,000 feet)<\/b>. It’s one of few bodies of water that has a mythological tale associated with it. It is said that a mermaid-like-monster called <\/span>Morag <\/b>with bright flowing hair who moves like a ‘waterlogged boat’ lurks in the depths of Loch Morar…<\/span><\/p>\n

The loch also has a fascinating history with ties to <\/span>World War II.<\/b> North of the loch you will find Swordland Lodge which was used as a special ops training school between 1930’s – 1940’s. You’ll also find one of the shortest rivers in the British Isles too, called the River Morar.<\/span><\/p>\n

Planning a beach day out? The silver\/white sands of Morar are located <\/span>1\/2 mile south of Morar village, west of Loch Morar<\/b>. It’s a lovely and tranquil day out with the kids for sure. Dogs are welcome onto the beach and the sea is perfectly clear so you can feel a little more at ease about letting your kids in there. <\/span><\/p>\n
