If you’re already planning your family cinema trips for the year, you’re in the right place. We’ve rounded up the biggest family movies coming out in 2026 so you can see what’s genuinely on the way, what looks most exciting and which releases are worth keeping on your radar.

We’re keeping this one simple: big names, family-friendly picks and release timing that’s actually been signalled. Because honestly, nobody wants to dig through five different pages just to work out what’s really coming out.

If you only want the shortlist, start here:

Release date: 19th June 2026

This is probably the biggest family release of the year already. Disney and Pixar have confirmed that Toy Story 5 lands in cinemas on 19th June 2026, and yes, the toys are back.

The early hook sounds very now too. This time, the gang is dealing with a new threat to playtime: technology. That gives it a fresh angle rather than just re-running old ground, which we’re very happy about.

If your family has grown up with Woody, Buzz and Jessie, this one feels like an obvious cinema trip.

Release date: 10th July 2026

Disney’s live-action Moana is also officially dated for 2026, and it’s shaping up to be one of the year’s biggest family blockbusters.

It follows Moana as she answers the ocean’s call and heads out beyond the reef with Maui for another huge adventure. If your kids love the original songs, the island setting and all that heart-and-humour Disney magic, this is going to be a massive one.

We can already see this becoming a school holiday favourite.

Release date: due in 2026

Yep, the herd is coming back. Ice Age 6 has been announced for 2026, with the returning voice cast including Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary and Simon Pegg.

That alone makes it one of the easiest picks for families who want something familiar, funny and properly kid-friendly. There’s still limited plot detail out there, but the fact it’s in production and aimed at a 2026 release puts it firmly on the list.

If your house still quotes Sid, you’ll want this one bookmarked.

Release date: confirmed for 2026

If you want something brand new rather than another sequel, Hoppers looks like one to watch. Pixar has confirmed the film for 2026, and the idea is wonderfully odd in the best possible way.

It follows Mabel, an animal lover who uses new technology to hop her consciousness into a robotic beaver so she can communicate with animals directly. Strange? Absolutely. Fun? Also yes.

This feels like the kind of original family film that could become a surprise favourite.

Release date: 2026

For families with older kids, The Mandalorian and Grogu deserves a mention. It’s not a little-kids animated film, obviously, but it is one of the most anticipated family-friendly franchise releases currently on the calendar.

If you’ve got Star Wars fans at home, this could be one of the biggest cinema events of the year. Grogu alone is enough to get plenty of families interested.

It’s probably best suited to households already invested in the Star Wars universe, but that’s still a lot of people.

Release date: 18th December 2026

Marvel fans, this one’s for you. Avengers: Doomsday is set for 18th December 2026, giving families with older children a big festive blockbuster to look forward to.

We wouldn’t call it a traditional family film in the same way as Toy Story or Ice Age, but it absolutely fits for superhero-loving tweens, teens and parents who want something bigger over the Christmas cinema season.

If your family plans movie nights around Marvel releases, this is going to be a big date in the diary.

Here’s the quick version if you’re choosing by vibe:

TL;DR: the biggest family movies 2026 has on the way
