After months of anticipation, Universal has announced that it has plans to open a new theme park near London. This exciting news comes with the promise of a unique experience for UK fans, with thrilling rides, immersive experiences, and plenty of family -fun activities.
What can we expect from a UK Universal Studios?
The plans for a Universal theme park in the UK are very much in the early stages. If they go ahead the UK will be home to the first Universal theme park in Europe! Fans of the Orlando venue have been active on social media with their excitement about this project.
A spokesperson for Universal said: “We recently acquired land in Bedford and are at the early stages of exploring its feasibility for a potential park and resort at this site.
It will be many months before we are ready to make a decision to proceed and we look forward to engaging with all relevant stakeholders and the local community.”
Bedford offers close road and rail links to the rest of the UK via London and of course, the rest of Europe through Heathrow Airport. Therefore it was felt by Universal as an ideal location for the new UK theme park.

Possible rides and attractions at Universal Studios UK
Due to this being the first Universal in the UK it will likely be a full-scale Universal theme park with large rollercoasters and big name attractions. The size could result in a completion date of any Universal Studios UK theme park being in the late 2020s/early 2030s.
The exact plans and confirmation of rides and attractions at Universal Studios UK have yet to be decided. However, Day Out With The Kids has looked at what might be likely to appear in the iconic theme park if it was to come to the UK.
Harry Potter, Paddington and James Bond
Harry Potter is a strong possibility given that it started in the UK and is hugely popular at Universal Studios, Florida. Also rumours online have begun that iconic London/UK characters Paddington, James Bond and Doctor Who may be chosen to be made into unique rides or them park areas.
Universal CityWalk
It has been revealed a UK version of Universal Orlando’s CityWalk is being considered. The area which invites visitors to dine, dance and shop will be full of enticing theming, shops, restaurants and entertainment venues. A great addition to the Universal’s thrill rides and theme park attractions.
