Things to do at Howletts Wild Animal Park
Meet the animals
Which are your brood’s favourite beasts? Chances are they’ll spot them at Howletts Wild Animal Park, with over 400 amazing animals all waiting to meet you. See the largest herd of African elephants in the UK, gorillas, lively lemurs and tigers. Did you know though that Kent’s only giant anteaters live here as well? Discover new breeds and make four-legged friends as you go.
See conservation in action
Howletts is an animal conservation park and has a thriving breeding programme working with the Aspinall Foundation. This is designed to protect some of the most vulnerable species around, like the 2 black rhinos who can be seen scooting around their animal enclosure. The funds of the foundation, topped up by the generosity of visitors, help run education programmes too. You can visit the animal adoption page on the Aspinall Foundation website and choose to adopt your favourite animal. A lovely way for children to support animal conservation programmes. Definitely an easier way for any parents to give in to the demands of a pet gorilla! We know you will thank us!
Interactive animal encounters
Learn more about animal habitats and the care they need with daily ranger talks. You can also join a small group and one of the expert animal keepers to discover exclusive, behind the scenes areas. The perfect experience for any animal lover. We recommend you don't miss the 15-20 minute animal experience feeding your favourite species. You'll be given feed to scatter within an animal enclosure and enjoy being close by while your new friends tuck into their snack!
Children's play area
As well as learning loads about them in daily talks and feeds, kids can also channel their inner cheeky monkeys in a dedicated play area. That’s well worth a whoop or two!
Seasonal Events and Activities
throughout the year, Howletts has a host of family events, from February half term family time fun, Easter egg hunts to Halloween spooktaculars. We think these events offer an amazing family day out!
