Hove Park, located within Goldstone Crescent and covering almost 40 acres, is a popular location for families, dog walkers, and runners. It is open throughout the year, and free to visit.
The park features a mix of large areas of open grass, flowerbeds, mature trees, and a number of recreational facilities to enjoy, including a football pitch, basketball court, several tennis courts, and bowling green. There is also a fenced off playground, and a seasonal miniature railway.
A paved path runs all around the park, and there are several paved paths crossing the park at various points. The ‘Fingermaze', a piece of public sculpture lined with, by environmental artist Chris Drury, can be found at the eastern edge of the park. It's a giant fingerprint made of stones set into turf in a labyrinth like design that will appeal to all ages.
Be sure to check out the park's great claim to fame, the Goldstone, which lies in its southwest corner. This is a huge rock, weighing about 20 tons, that is commonly believed to have been used by the Druids for worship. If you have a good look, you will see the shape of a human face clearly visible in the stone!
