Pretty splendid views of this Green Flag Award winning park can be seen from the observation tower so it's worth taking a camera and the small visitor centre offers a great tourist information facility for the area and is also where all the Ranger led activities start! They regularly offer seasonal activities during half terms and other holidays always aimed at kids, and they can include thing like mini beast safaris, treasure hunts, guided ranger walks learning about conservation, natural material arts and crafts sessions plus shelter building and survival skills! Well worth checking ahead and planning a trip for when there's an extra activity on, they usually cost under a couple of pounds to participate.
The park has a children's natural style adventure play area with equipment for 2 to 10 year olds and some great way marked trails linking with the surrounding countryside, several of which are wheel and push chair friendly.
The woodland is packed with broadleaves and Scots pines so it's a nice atmosphere for playing hide and seek, or spotting dragonflies and butterflies. Depending on the season you can catch huge natural displays of orchids or snowdrops, plus there are penny of birds here and the occasional deer, too!
