Attraction Information
Covering woodland, marshland, lake and wildflower meadows, High Woods Country Park boasts a wealth of explorable terrain with intriguing nature walks, vast spaces for traditional play and ideal for hiking and cycling. There are 3 cool play areas spread about with fun adventure play equipment suitable for everyone from toddlers to teens and including naturalistic style features to make it an atmospheric woodland play experience.
It's worth visiting the Community Gardens (between 10am and 1pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and alternate Saturdays) for a bit of opportunistic secret schooling! This sustainable and Green Flag awarded area is lovingly tended by loads of local volunteers (with more always welcome!) who then share out the produce between them. It's a nice little educational element that older kids can apply to get involved with if so inspired.
Coarse fishing is available in the lake, subject to obtaining a permit as the number of fisherfolk are limited daily to keep it peaceful. It's worth noting that while their Forest School program sounds terrific it's for school groups only.
