About High Salvington Windmill
High Salvington Windmill is an extensively restored working windmill, which dates from roughly 1750. It gives an excellent opportunity for kids to get an insight into the past and learn about old machinery and local history.
The windmill is staffed by an enthusiastic team of volunteers who will be only too happy to answer any questions the kids have about how it works or the history of the place.
We recommend that you check online to confirm when the mill is open as this means you will be able to get inside. The windmill is a very interesting working museum, which still sells the flour that it produces. Kids will also have the chance to learn the history of the restoration process for the windmill that allowed it to finally reopen in 1991 so that you can explore it today!
Please be aware that you have to climb stairs to reach the top floor of the mill, so it may not be suitable for little ones plus pushchairs and wheelchairs.
