Attraction Information
Everyone has to start somewhere and there's no better introduction to riding for small children at the BHS approved Hayfield Equestrian Centre than to enjoy a simple walk out in the park with a well behaved pony, led by a friendly and experienced escort. They take riders for this from 4 to 8 years old and it includes a little basic instruction before a short gentle ride and is designed to give children a soft introduction to ponies and riding at an early age. The Paddock hacks are a great way to get accustomed to the feeling of the movement of riding a horse before taking on a more active horse or pony.
After the Paddock Hacks a Trot hack comes next where the horses are all quite slow and steady. Trot Canter hacks are the next progressive step for those ready to canter but still not too confident.
Canter hacks are more exciting for the next stage of your riding development but riders will need to be capable of keeping control of a livelier horse or pony. The escorts can and will swap riders if someone is struggling, so don't worry!
Advanced Hacks are really only for those riders who are happy riding spirited horses in all paces including gallop. Every ride out in the park weaves through the golf fairways and through a mixture of wooded trails and sometimes open fields where the wildlife you may see will include buzzards and hawks, lots of deer, rabbits, squirrels, woodpeckers and the occasional fox too! What a charming environment for a ride!
