Attraction Information
Harestanes Countryside Visitor Centre is a great starting point for a family day out as it is set in beautiful countryside near Jedburgh, with a number of family oriented events and varying exhibitions, so there is always something new to discover!
There are 4 winding woodland walks to explore, of varying lengths, with plenty to see along the way. You can even bring the family pooch with you, unless you want to walk the Peniel Heugh route. Harestanes is on St Cuthbert's Way, which is one of the country's most popular long distances paths (if you fancy an extended walk!).
The visitor centre is open daily between the beginning of April and the end of October, is free to visit, and holds regular Family events and exhibitions, details of which can be found online. Facilities include a children's games room, tearooms, and a room available to hire for children's parties. Free wifi is available and you can get the password from reception. Most of the centre is wheelchair accessible.
Indoor Soft Play is available for kids aged up to 4 years old on Thursdays during the open season, and the centre also boasts (allegedly) the biggest outdoor play park in the Borders! Neighbouring craft businesses and access routes are open all year. It's a great day out, whatever the weather!
