Cute narrow gauge railway

I took my toddler on a train excursion to Runcorn for this railway. Runcorn East is probably a better station to head to, as it is slightly closer. The railway itself is not as much of an experience as some of the other narrow gauge railways in Cheshire; there is no station, although apparently the facilities at the ski centre are available. The railway is operated from two small sheds, and I was a little unsure where to go when we arrived. However, someone did call over to me before too long. The volunteers are very friendly and enthusiastic. My little boy was very pleased with his luxuriously thick green ticket (£1). The track was very long for a narrow gauge, and through a lovely park. We went round with an electric locomotive, although the volunteer told me that they had recently had a steam train operating. The adjacent play park was in good condition, but more aimed at younger children and toddlers. Worth a visit if you are in the area, but not much there if you have a long journey.
