If you go down to the woods today you’re sure to have an adventure, as well as a few surprises along the way! With 3,500 acres of woodland to discover, Haldon Forest Park is home to tonnes of outdoor fun.
Begin by taking to the trees on the Go Ape Treetop Adventure course. Kids can spend hours zooming down zip wires and swinging through the branches. From there drop back down to earth and explore the surrounding area by bike, on horseback, or even on segway trail tours!
As you delve deep into the woods you may come across a familiar face on the Gruffalo Spotters trail. Download the Spotter app and play detective by following clues and using your trusty evidence kit. Much loved characters will come to life as you hit marker posts and see Fox, Owl, Snake, Mouse - and of course the titular Gruffalo - appear right before your eyes!

Great day out (without breaking the bank)
Written by mrreadie . 02.09.17
We had a great day trip out and the kids had a great time, aged 1 to 8. We picked up a map and followed the easy path through the woods following the Gruffalo trail. There are longer more difficult paths to follow and also lots of bike trails. We had a picnic in the shaded picnic area in the woods where we met the Gruffalo, this is also where you will find the Go Ape activities. You can hire bikes, we had some scooters which were fine on most of the easy paths. We had no problem with the buggy, the easy path was also suitable for wheelchairs. At the main area there is also a cafe, toilets, sand pit playground and an ice cream hut. We were there about 4 hours but you could easily be much longer doing a longer route or bringing or hiring bikes. The only charge is parking, £5 for 4 hours, £7 all day at park times. A recommended day out.
