- Parks and Playgrounds
Suitable for all ages
Venue type: Outdoor
Guisborough Forest features not only a lot of lovely trees and natural wildlife but also loads of fun activities for the whole family to get stuck into, including an orienteering course, a trim trail, a sculpture trail and several play areas!
If you're solely going for the adventure playground it might be worth rining ahead and finding out where precisely they are as there's no information on this available online.
On a clear day if you climb the heights of Highcliff Nab or Hanging Stone then you will be well rewarded by epic views over Teeside and the coast: so it's well worth bringing a camera and, if they're into it, a sketchpad and pencils.
There are also 3 way marked walks around the forest which wind through a pleasingly differing range of woodland types: the Green take you on a 45 minute circular route running from and arriving back at the Walkway Visitor Centre; the Red is the same circle but wider out so it's about 1.5 hours long; and the White is a bit more adventurous in terrain terms, taking you on a moderately steeper climb through forestry and farmland up to the Hanging Stone - this one takes as long as it takes!
There are also two way marked cycling routes but they are toughies, the Blue involving moderate climbs and ascents and being 4.5 miles long; the Red being an arduous and nigh endless off road adventure which is only recommended to skilled mountain bikers with high endurance, so don't let the kids talk you into it!
