Attraction Information

Grizedale Forest in the heart of the Lake District World Heritage Site offers an unrivalled day out for everyone! Like breathtaking views, stunning artwork and endless forest trails, so come and discover all that Grizedale has to offer!

Things To Do
Grizedale Forest offers beautiful views from Lake Windermere to Coniston Water. Just follow one of the waymarked walking trails and it will lead you to the best bits of the forest. Pick up a trail map from the information centre at the start of your visit and you’ll be ready to start exploring. If the kids love Zog, then embark on a new forest adventure with everyone's favourite dragon! Download the free app and collect golden stars - you can even snap a selfie with him at the end of the trail!

Or explore the forest on two wheels on the North Face mountain bike trail! Whether you're ready to challenge yourself with cycling or looking for a leisurely cycle route for the family. Grizedale Mountain Bikes, the onsite bike shop, has a wide range of kiddie and full-size bikes for hire, too, so there's no end to the adventures you can start here!

You can even go horseback riding too - a unique and adventurous way to explore the forest. Or whizz around the forest floor on a forest segway - the perfect two-wheeled adventure!
Did you know the forest is also famous for its outdoor sculptures? Uncover over 4000 acres across the forest and woodland and discover 40 sculptures made by some of the greatest contemporary artists! How many can you and the kids find?

There's also a fab children's adventure play area where they can burn off bounds of energy and have endless amounts of fun!

For more of a challenge, test your nerve and swing among the trees on one of our Go Ape courses. Whether you touch the skies on the Treetop Adventure course or zoom down on the zipline experience.

If one day isn't long enough, then why not choose to extend your forest adventure and stay over at one of their nearby cottages or the local family-run campsite?

Food & Drink
If you're feeling hungry, there's plenty of places where you can set up a picnic! Then when you're in need of a hot or cold drink, head to the cafe!

  • Take a trail map and explore
  • Spot all 40 forest sculptures
  • Plenty of family fun
