Granary Square Water Feature
London's newest square blends together the historic elements of the barge canal which forms its centre with an ultra modern interactive water feature boasting a solid thousand individual water jets all up-lit and angled for individual and cumulative choreographed effects. Absolutely fascinating for visitors of all ages!
Boats still operate through the canal so it's also a pleasing spot to sit and picnic with smaller children who will delight in each passing. The wide steps heading down toward the water are a perfect viewing position. Charming historic buildings also surround the square including the Central Saint Martins Art College.
The King's Cross Visitor Centre is located nearby in the Western Transit Shed on Stable Street. They're full of resources to help you plan days out in the immediate area, details of local offers and events, plus an interactive model and public exhibitions on the history and future of the area.
If you're not intending to picnic you can always time your visit for between noon and 2pm and take advantage of the KERB street market programme: every day half a dozen differing street food vendors set up here offering really high standards of an intriguingly multi cultural range of street foods from Korean to Mexican. A great chance for the kids to try something new!
