Golden Acre Park

4 star Rating 4 / 5

Golden Acre Park is a pleasant park, partly with cultivated flower-beds and greenhouses, the rest wild woodland, great for hide and seek, birdwatching and nature observation and picnics. There are some open areas for ball games.. Parking is adequate, though can get very busy at weekends, with a good number of Disabled Parking spaces. The main part of the park is accessed by a tunnel under the busy main road to make it safe for families.A large lake with flocks of resident wildfowl dominates the lower part of the parkland. There is no play area , but room for scooters and small bicyleson the pathways. The Old Bakery Cafe provides snacks, drinks and light meals. Toilets are situated nearby.Inside the cafe are a series of historical photographs of how the park looked in the 1930s when it was developed as a major recreational area with a funfair , swimming pool, tennis courts and a dance hall.
