Suitable for all ages

Venue type: Outdoor

Garlieston Beach and Wigtown Bay plus Rigg Bay also known as Cruggleton Bay are all set within the vast grounds of Galloway House and Gardens. The buildings are not open to the public but make an impressive backdrop nonetheless.

The gardens and woodlands lead directly onto the seashore where you can enjoy the large sandy beach at your leisure; beyond you can continue to follow the coastal path to view the spectacular heights of Cruggleton Cliffs and the ruin of Cruggleton Castle.

There is no lifeguard cover and care must be taken if paddling at low tide as wreckage from the WW2 Mulberry Harbour activities sometimes become partially exposed on the sands. It naturally attracts the kids' attention but is rusty and sharp and to be avoided!
