Attraction Information
Ganavan Beach also known as Ganavan Sands is a Green Coast Awarded sandy beach popular with families offering safe shallow swimming (though there is no lifeguard cover) and also featuring plenty of rock pools for exploration. It's also Marine Conservation Society Recommended so there are plenty of shells to collect and the rock pooling should in theory be nicely productive for a change… Plus on a clear day you can get views out to Mull, Lismore and Morven. Lovely!
Immediate vicinity amenities are limited to public toilets, camp site and a jetty. A great coastal walk passes through here if you fancy a serious stroll to Dunstaffnage, though! Because it's so isolated you need a good kit bag for this one, so be sure to take along beach toys like buckets and spades, sand boules, frisbees, kites and whatnot. And don't forget your little nets and wellies for the rock pooling! If the rock pooling is your main draw here then be sure to check the tidal timetable ahead of schedule and ensure that they're not completely under water, which they often are!
