- Railway and Transport Attractions
Suitable for all ages
Venue type: Outdoor
Built in the 1890s the Foxfield Railway is still going today, with strength and panache! Take one of the dozens of unique and well cared for steam or diesel locomotives and enjoy a scenic countryside jaunt on the rails to chuff the kids (get it?!).
What's more their miniature gauge railway line also runs miniature engines for public passengers and is open every Sunday until the end of October. This is a quarter of a mile ride and suited to tiny types, those who aren't sure they fancy the big train, or just as bonus. Why not wind the kids up that it's just the little one, and then walk around the corner to catch a huge one!
A highlight here has to be the opportunity to add a Drive A Train package to your parties' pleasures: ranging from a single hour to all day, the chosen chuff head can learn all about the engines behind the steams, so to speak, and get hands on with the trains with friendly technical support and tuition throughout.
Tell the proper trainspotters to take their pocket money because the station souvenir emporium offers all sorts of railway related goodies from the touristy type to seriously educational fare and some excellent train related toys.
The Buffet facility offers hot and cold drinks and snacks to fuel the family's travels, plus there are spots nearby suitable for picnicking so you really can turn this into a full day's leisure pleasure if you're so inclined!
