Exciting Activities at Ford Park
Ford Park has nine acres of open space and is loaded with activities for children of all ages. The natural playground, surround by grassy mounds, has an exciting 30m Zip Wire, climbing stilts, swings and much more.
Free guides to the Nature Trail, Tree Trail and entry-level Orienteering Route are available from the Coach House Cafe. They will guide you through the woodland and wilder parts of the park and onto the delightful mature gardens with wildlife pond. The trails end in the orchard, close to the Kitchen Garden and Cafe. There is lots to see and learn in this inspirational community-owned park. Located in the shadow of Hoad Hill, Ford Park makes an excellent starting point for a climb up the hill to see the Sir John Barrow Monument, a 100ft high lighthouse built to honour a famous son of Ulverston. The views alone are worth the 20 minute climb to the top of the hill.
If you can't make the steep climb, just relax on the roof terrace of our Cafe where there are splendid views of the Monument and across Morecambe Bay to the Pennines. The Coach House Cafe has an excellent children's menu and all meals are freshly cooked on the premises with local and home-grown ingredients.
During school holidays there are a variety Family Activities every Wednesday afternoon from 2pm. Activities range from art and crafts to food growing and gardening.
