Attraction Information
Fochabers Folk Museum was opened in 1984, and began with the aim to preserve the photographs and memories of “Fochaberians' past and present. This has become a fascinating (still growing), collection of photos and documents that cover the history of the village and surrounding area.
Kids will love the eclectic array of everyday objects that show the traditions and ways of life for the area during the 18th and 19th centuries. There is a collection of carriages and gigs to investigate, plus a chance to experience schooldays of the past in ‘Milne's schoolroom', which celebrates the founder of the Milne Free School, Alexander Milne.
The William Marshall exhibition tells the story of a highly regarded clockmaker, who began life as a butler! Make sure you take a look at the centrepiece, which is one of his long case clocks. There is also an exhibition about RAF Dallachy and its role in WWII, when it was in use by several squadrons.
If you fancy a stroll around the village you have just learned about, an information leaflet is available, which gives a brief tour of the village and its history.
