Attraction Information
The Floors Castle is a wonderful example to kids who've previously seen ruins and military style fortifications of how such a building can still be a family home.
It's been in their family since 1721 and each generation has left their mark on it, so it's quite a touching family experience if you want to take it that way. If you're a long established local and there's any chance that one of your ancestors worked or lived on the estate then take details along with you: while they don't have a formal archivist, if staffing allows they will help you track down family data through the records.
In the Walled Garden you can stroll amongst the largest range of cottage garden perennials in Scotland, everything within the borders is for sale but families Just Browsing are more than welcome!
Plus they have an assault course style adventure playground outside to burn off some energy on, including features like flying fox, monkey bars and swings. There is a café beside this with outside seating available too, so you can re-caffeinate while the kids play knights and princesses.
There is also apparently some of Scotland's best salmon fishing to be had just upriver: a great way to extend your family day out, or a great place to leave dad and granddad while the rest of explore the estate! When you get back to count their fish you can tell them about the great spotted woodpeckers and red squirrels you saw in the forested riverside walk on the way back!
