Attraction Information
Flamborough Lighthouse Tours provide a great way to learn more about this lighthouse located on Flamborough Head, about 1.2 miles from Flamborough on the B1259.
Climb the 119 steps for stunning views over Bridlington, with useful and interesting commentary on how a lighthouse works and this one's particular history. The tours last about 20 minutes and run daily during summer (except Sundays).
A lighthouse was first built on the Flamborough Headland in 1669, but it was never lit! The current lighthouse acts as a waypoint for coastal traffic as well as marking the Headland for vessels that are heading for the ports of Scarborough and Bridlington. It was built in 1806 at a cost of £8,000, and first lit on 1st December of that year.
You can discover all about this and more, from the informative guided tour, and by going to the Visitor Centre afterwards.
